To the ones who have walked before us

My wonderful Mom and I on Mothers day

My wonderful Mom and I on Mother’s day

When I became a mom I realized like never before that there existed a group of women that were so hungry for wisdom: young moms. I told my mom that I saw an area where older women could make the biggest impact on our generation and the generations to come by pouring into young moms. You see, as you invest in that mom you are investing into a marriage, which is a picture of Christ and the church; you are investing in her parenting, which in turn is shaping souls for the glory of God; and you are investing in a woman who can impact this world for Christ. That is a big return on an investment. Mentors are such a tremendous blessing, and we need them. Sometimes we just need to be told, “I understand what you are going through” or “This season is difficult, but it’s short,” and who better to tell us than the moms who have walked before us and whose kids are still alive. 🙂  Oftentimes a young mother desire this so much but is too tired to think of asking someone she looks up to about taking the time to invest in her. I am so grateful for the amazing godly women who take the time to encourage me and live out Titus 2:4 in my life, especially the greatest mentor in my life, my wonderful Mom.

To the older moms who have walked this road before us: we NEED you! We need your encouragement, your advice, your prayers, your “I’ve been there and made it through,” your help, your godly counsel and your time.

To the young moms: we need teachable spirits and humble hearts to be receptive and to take the encouragement.

“Older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers or slaves to much wine, They are to teach what is good, and so train the young women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind and submissive to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled.” Titus 2:3-5
